Parasite detection in faeces
Following the most frequent test requests for parasite detection in faeces are itemized. For the enrichment via flotation or sedimentation we need a faeces sample approx. the size of a cherry. For the serology via EIA a pea-sized sample generally is sufficient. | | Helminth eggs | | faeces | | Microscopic following enrichment via flotation and/or MIFC (Merthiolat-Flotations-Jod-Concentration, special sedimentation method) | | dog, cat large animals, small pets, reptiles | | 1 | | - shedding intermittently
- examination of consecutive samples is advisable
- tapeworms and Oxyuris spp.: Scotch tape preparation taken from anus.
